“It feels great to know you’ve made a difference in the life of a child. We know, because we get to experience it every day. You can too”.

Caring for these kids is a community effort

The majority of the children that come to the ranch on a weekly basis are referrals from local foster care and mental health agencies. Unfortunately for these children the child-welfare system only provides funding for the basics, although sadly needed these activities are considered “extras” and funding is not available. The majority of these children have suffered from abandonment, physical and emotional abuse; they are amongst the most vulnerable, at-risk children in our community. These children and teens desperately need our support, love and attention. We all have the ability to serve these children and provide a positive, life changing impact in their lives. Our goal at Equine Alliance is to provide our services free of charge for those in need. Your financial support will allow us to make a difference in the lives of these children and teens showing them new options, encouragement and direction for their lives.

“There are not enough words in my vocabulary to thank all of you at Equine Alliance. You’ve given me the greatest gift of all. You’ve given me my son back." — Marcia L.

"Dear Lori, I am writing to thank you, Jamie and the volunteers at Equine Alliance for the extraordinary level of care and support that you provided not only for our daughter but also for our whole family. Had it not been for the intervention of the horses at Equine Alliance our daughter would not be where she is today, on the road to a new start in life.”

UPDATE HUASNA HORSE RESCUE

Salvador
Salvador - 19 year old Peruvian Paso stallion

For nearly two years, San Luis Obispo County animal services officers have answered numerous calls about the poor condition of the horses grazing along Huasna road, near Arroyo Grande CA.

Animal cruelty investigators contacted Equine Alliance to assist with the care, rehabilitation and re-homing of 17 horses and 14 ponies belonging to an 83 year old elderly woman who was physically and financially unable to care for the 31 horses on her property and was in desperate need of assistance.

The majority of the horses have been rehabilitated and re-homed, while seven horses remain on the elderly woman’s property, Equine Alliance will continue to monitor and assist in the care of the few remaining horses. To date the costs for rescuing the 31 horses has had quite a financial impact on our organization and donations of feed and medical are greatly needed.

Last year Juan Garayar, renowned trainer of Peruvian horses traveled to Colorado to assist in the rescue and rehabilitation of eleven Peruvian Paso horses including 6 stallions and 5 mares that were suffering from severe neglect and abuse.

Salvador (one of the horses rescued from Huasna) is learning that he can trust people. Juan Garayar has been instrumental in Sal's rehabilitation and we are very thankful for his kindness.
