Equine Alliance Board of Directors
Lori Harmon, Executive Director, is a renowned equine trainer and
educator. She has held key leadership positions in the youth education
field including academics teacher for the John Muir Charter High
School and Youth Education Coordinator for the State California
Conservation Corps. In 2004 Lori was the recipient of the California
Conservation State Award in honor of her “dedicated stewardship
of the land and growth of the human spirit".
Jennifer Hudgins, Vice Chair, is a Licensed
Marriage and Family Therapist for the Kinship Center serving foster
children and their families. She earned her bachelor’s degree
in Psychology from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, her
master’s degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell
University, and a second master’s degree in Marriage and Family
Therapy from Antioch University in Santa Barbara.
Tony Harmon, Vice Chair, has led technology
and information technology development at public and private corporations
for over the past decade including pioneering award-winning, adaptive,
accessible and instructional web-based technologies for the State
of California Educational System. Tony is an accomplished concert
guitarist and composer he has performed for thousands including
President Ronald Reagan at the Western White House.
Wendy Coxsey, Secretary, graduated from Illinois State University
with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She
has extensive experience in early childhood special education and
parent education, helping families to understand their children’s
behavior and stages of development. The seven years she spent working
with children at a social service childcare center helped her to
embrace a deeper understanding of child development.
Pat McVicar, Treasurer, earned her bachelor’s degree and
her master’s degree in learning disabilities from Northwestern
University. She has been teaching learning disabilities students
of all ages for over thirty years. An expert in the areas of reading
and writing, McVicar has trained teachers around the country to
utilize a variety of structured, multi-sensory approaches to the
instruction of written language.
